Facilities and asset management

Facilities operations: unit level

While capital investments are typically high-dollar expenses, and are overseen at the VP level to ensure broader division perspective, and consideration of investments in financial models, our units manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our buildings. These functions include things such as the following:

Overseeing the process of student moving-in/out in residential housing

Managing events and the operations of our student unions

Collaborating with the University facilities management team for use and oversight of the operations and maintenance budget, for day to day needs

These positions do not have asset management responsibilities. For any renovation, capital improvement/capital expense, remodel or building needs, please contact the EOSS Sr. Vice President’s office business team.

Asset Management: Sr. Vice President level

Asset Management is a systematic process of tracking and monitoring things of value to an entity or organization. While our efforts have focused on property assets, our tracking and monitoring has also extended to:

1

Tracking financial goodwill from third party partners

2

Ensuring accuracy of amortization rates for debt service and bond payments

3

Managing economic cash flows from contractual governing documents of third party partners (i.e. Real Estate Fees, Commission Rates, Remedy Costs, YoY Housing Rate Growth)

4

Life-cycle depreciation costs with strategic budget planning for capital expenses

5

Risk assessment for property assets (Probability x Impact = Risk Assessment)

6

Market Rate Assessments for Housing Inventory

Space and Moves

Space allocation and internal department moves are monitored at the Sr. Vice President’s level in conjunction with EOSS departments and leadership. EOSS units work with the business team for any requests for moves between buildings, to help (if needed) identify space across EOSS, or renovations to space.
