Arizona State University provides many Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Ally focused academic programs and inclusion workshops promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and issues for the entire campus community.

 FinAid: financial aid for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students

With several dozen scholarships available to LGBTQIA+ students and families, FinAid offers one of the most comprehensive scholarship listings exclusive to the LGBTQIA+ community.

GO Financial Aid: LGBT financial aid

A growing number of organizations are creating scholarship funds and grants for LGBTQIA+ students or families. GO Financial Aid lists some of these organizations.

Phoenix Pride scholarships

Phoenix Pride, with the support of local contributors and community members, has awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to the LGBTQIA+ community since the inception of its scholarship program in 2008.

Point Foundation scholarships

Point Foundation is the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students of merit. Point Foundation promotes change through scholarship funding, mentorship, leadership development, and community service training.

Mark Bowland Leadership Scholarship

The Mark Bowland Leadership Fund has been established to honor the life of Mark Bowland, a graduate of the Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Class of 1996, who exhibited leadership in the LGBT community. This award recognizes the contributions of young adult leaders who identify as LGBT and the indelible impact that their efforts have on the present and future.

ASU is committed to providing Health and Wellness services and resources to support ASU’s LGBTQIA+ population in order to facilitate personal and professional growth.

Counseling Services

Each campus counseling center provides confidential individual counseling, group counseling, psycho-educational programming and consultation services for faculty, staff and students. Counseling staff have training and experience in issues facing university students and are committed to helping them adjust to campus life and meet their academic goals. Counselors also provide group counseling and they have the ability to provide letters of recommendations for transition.

ASU Health Services

ASU Health Services is a partner with the Mayo Clinic Care Network and is also nationally accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care with locations on the Downtown PhoenixPolytechnicTempe and West campuses.

Services specifically of interest to the LGBTQIA+ community include:

  • Access to STI testing and treatment through a primary care provider or on a walk-in basis

  • Comprehensive gynecology service

  • Comprehensive men’s health services

  • Immunization services including HPV vaccine to reduce the risk of genital warts and cervical and anogenital cancers.

  • Medical care and hormonal transition services for transgender persons

  • Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for reduction of HIV infection risk

ASU Wellness

ASU Wellness promotes wellness and fosters a healthy campus environment so that all members of the University can be better positioned for academic, personal and professional success. ASU Wellness programs provide information, education and resources to students on: Alcohol and Other Drugs, Depression and Suicide, Healthy Relationships and Sexual Violence, and Stress.

Voice Training

The clinic serves as training and research facilities for degree programs in speech and hearing science at ASU's College of Health Solutions. Clinical services are provided by graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed faculty with expertise in hearing, speech, language, voice and early childhood communication.

Career Services

Navigating Career Inclusivity: Despite laws against discrimination based on gender or sexuality, you may still have concerns about workplace support and inclusivity. ASU Career Services is here to help you address these concerns and find resources for an inclusive career environment. We are dedicated to supporting you in bringing your full self to the workforce.

Committee for Campus Inclusion

The Committee for Campus Inclusion promotes a positive, harmonious campus environment that celebrates individual and group diversity, promotes individualism, provides information to the campus community and resolves issues in such a manner as to respect all persons and their dignity.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Gender inclusive housing accommodations are offered in each residential college community at no additional cost. Each accommodation request is confidential and follows the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

The Office of Equity & Inclusion supports and fosters a culture of inclusiveness by promoting and assisting with equal opportunity and diversity initiatives.

Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention

Sun Devils take care of ourselves, each other and our community. ASU provides a variety of reporting options, resources and educational programs to prevent sexual misconduct.

Student Advocacy and Assistance

Student Advocacy and Assistance guides students in resolving educational, personal and other campus impediments toward successful completion of their academic goals.

Study Abroad

The ASU Study Abroad Office respects the sexual and gender identity and expression of all people. While all study abroad participants need to plan their experience in advance, as an LGBTQIA+ student you may wish to consider some additional issues before and during your study abroad experience.

There are a number of workshops and training programs for students, faculty and staff designed to promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and provide tools for creating greater inclusivity within their environments.

SafeZONE is a 2-hour, in-depth workshop designed to increase the overall campus community's understanding and awareness of issues LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized students face. SafeZONE was created to encourage a more inclusive and accepting campus climate.
