-

A student works on an illustration with reference from microscope-observed plant biology Interested in art, nature, and science? Grab your watercolors and lab coat as we examine specimens at the Life Sciences Collections at ASU. Learn about and take a closer look at animals, botanicals, shells, insects, and more under the microscope! As we explore, you’ll create watercolor paintings and drawings based on your visual research. Make it abstract or paint exactly what you see! This is your time to be creative and investigate a magical microscopic world you never knew existed. Please note that Art Under the Microscope will be held at ASU’s Natural History Collections, located at 734 W. Alameda Drive, Tempe AZ 85282; this is a short five-minute drive from ASU’s Tempe Campus.

Our summer camps welcome students ages 13-18 with a wide range of experience, from beginners to advanced artists. The program is designed to provide students with an art immersion experience: the opportunity to engage in studio practice, to collaborate with peers, and to receive one-on-one feedback from specialized faculty members about their artistic craft. Requisite materials are provided to each student. More information and registration details can be found at our website.
