In partnership with the Truman Presidential Library’s White House Decision Center, the ASU Center for American Institutions is pleased to offer incoming high school sophomores, juniors and seniors an opportunity to join us on the ASU Tempe campus on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 for a High School Leadership Academy.
Step into the world of modern engineering at the MicroMaker: Microchips to Collaborative Robotics summer camp for ages 15 - 18, where students explore how technology evolves from microchips to real-world robotic systems. Participants will learn directly from an Arizona State University faculty member, gaining insight into the same tools and techniques used in college labs and industry. The experience begins with embedded systems, where students program the ESP32-S3 using MicroPython and work with sensors and peripherals to build interactive devices.

2026 Topic: Building Better Communities
Our communities are in trouble. Differences of opinion (especially those having to do with politics) start fights between family members, friends and neighbors. Political polarization is making it increasingly hard to see the good in people who aren’t on “the same side” (whatever side that is). Tackling this head on, our focus this week will be on cultivating civic virtues — such as openmindedness, humility and empathy — skills that we need to get through polarizing times.

This three-day classroom-based camp introduces participants to User Experience (UX) concepts and methods for testing out usability. Campers will also engage in a controlled virtual reality (VR) experience in the Dreamscape Learn Lab. Interacting with the unique VR education simulation, campers will learn about user understanding and what goes into creating effective user experiences.

Camp Level Up++ is a 3-week, multi-track summer program where students learn through game-based and hands-on experiences. Campers build games on the Endstar platform, explore introductory Unity and Unreal Engine skills, and get creative through fabrication and wood workshop activities.
