ASU Counseling’s approach to supporting student mental health is broad, multifaceted and collaborative. Brief therapy is not the only solution. Counselors are not the only people who can support change. We combine counseling options with training, education, consultation, informational materials and access to peer support. We paint a full picture of how a community supports the mental well- being of the entire student population.
The ASU Counseling team is comprised of mental health and public health professionals who offer a full spectrum of expertise on college student and young adult related topics. Training and education offerings can be delivered either in-person or Zoom. To request one of the presentations below, please review the presentations topics are offered to students in the table below, then complete and submit the ASU Counseling Services Outreach Request form.
Helping a student or peer doesn’t have to be done alone, we are here to help. Students, staff and faculty, you are welcome to consult with us when you are concerned about a student. Consultation can look like but not be limited to: how to access immediate help for a student, crisis response services, connecting students to other helpful ASU resources, and how to discuss your concerns with a student. To consult with a member of our team, call our office at 480-965-6146.
Having helpful information handy when you need it most is key to managing your mental health. We provide informational print materials and promotional items for student events and activities, common campus areas and student personal use. To request materials, please complete and submit the ASU Counseling Services Outreach Request form. Please allow 48 hours to receive your materials from the time you submit your request.
Devils 4 Devils is a student-led community for shaping an empathic environment at ASU. Members are dedicated to the inclusion of all students and improving the social emotional well-being of the communities they serve.
Community Circles, a peer-led, peer-based platform, is a resource available for students to find support and connection with each other, facilitated by a Devils 4 Devils member. A variety of Community Circles are offered to meet the needs of the ASU community. To learn more, visit Community Circles.

Roadmap of Support (30-60 minutes) – Learn about the dynamics of empathy and supporting someone who may be struggling with their mental health through 4 basic steps (Be Aware, Connect, Refer, Follow Up).
Counseling Services Overview (10-15 minutes)- Overview of counseling options available to ASU students and other helpful university resources to support student mental health.
Stress & Resilience (30-60 minutes)- Understanding the cycle of stress and the human response to stress that impacts one’s mental health. Learn about resilience practices and the identification of helpful strategies to remain resilient through stress and changes.
Loneliness & Social Connectedness (30-60 minutes)- Understanding loneliness in college; identifying helpful strategies to support well-being and connectedness, including gratitude practices, reframing patterns of negative thought and knowing when and how to seek additional support.
Emotional Intelligence (30-60 min) - Emotional intelligence is crucial for personal, academic, and professional success, influencing how we handle stress, make decisions, and interact with others. Learn about the ability to recognize, understand, manage, and utilize emotions effectively.
Imposter Syndrome (30-60 min) - Understanding the psychological pattern in which individuals doubt their accomplishments. Learn how to address Imposter Syndrome through self-reflection, cognitive strategies, and practical actions.
Conflict Resolution & Communication (30-60 min) – Learn about the dynamics of conflict, effective approaches for managing conflict, and communication strategies for navigating conflict in relationships.
SafeTALK (3.5 hours) –SafeTALK is a half-day training in suicide alertness skills for individuals 15 years or older. SafeTALK is a training for members of the ASU Community to support and advance mental health promotion and suicide prevention strategies. SafeTALK participants will gain confidence in asking people about suicide directly, connecting them to life-saving resources, and keeping them safe until helpful resources are in place.

We have a variety of informational, print materials on counseling resources and mental health topics. We also have promotional items, for example stickers and pens, in limited amounts and based on supply.

Our work extends into the community by helping high school students to be more socially emotionally prepared for college. We offer a series of training sessions for high school students on social emotional well-being and how to create a safe and caring community within their school. We also have a team of experts in our center who are available for presentations to parents and school staff on youth and adolescent mental health.
