Arizona Center Garden

A great place to sit, have lunch or a cool drink amongst the trees. Ambient music and great accessibility to restaurants and shopping if you feel so inclined.
 

Arizona Science Center

Experience the night sky or a laser light show under the dome of the Dorrance Planetarium or if that doesn't work for you, watch a film in the Irene P. Flinn Theater with its five-story-high IMAX screen. A great place to go with friends, release your inner child and have fun with science.
 

ASU Counseling

Every student faces some sort of challenge or change in college and there’s nothing wrong with needing a little help. ASU Counseling Services provides support and assistance in problem solving in a safe, confidential setting. Students can walk-in, or schedule same day or next day appointments. ASU CS accepts the Student Health Insurance and the Bridge Plan. If you’re having trouble, find peace of mind with ASU’s Counseling Services. Bowl of Greens

Eat fresh, healthy, and gourmet at downtown's local salad company, Bowl of Greens. Located within steps of the Cronkite Building, with over 30 toppings, 15 dressings, and 5 choices of meat for your salads, there are endless combinations for every visit.

City Scape/Patriots Square Park

A small ‘park’ in the midst of the hustle of the big city. You can take a seat under the umbrellas, and dip your toes in the fountains if you wish. There is also a very small lending library where you can pick up something to read on a nice day. Stand Up Live, downtown’s own comedy show venue, is worth a look. You can also visit Lucky Strike, an upscale bowling experience or any number of trendy stores and eateries.
 

Civic Space Park

Civic Space Park offers residents, workers, ASU students and downtown visitors a park with unique urban design, sustainable construction and operational features and a landmark public sculpture by artist Janet Echelman. Throw a Frisbee, relax on a blanket or read a book under the sun. Civic space park is our oasis in Downtown Phoenix, providing social, recreational and cultural programs throughout the year.


Fair Trade Café & Patio

Fair Trade Café and Gallery is a locally owned café committed to providing certified fair trade, organic and shade grown coffee to the Valley. Relax with a cup of coffee or tea while you study. Order from the vegan friendly menu or just chill. Each month, Fair Trade Cafe exhibits a different artist's work on the walls of the Cafe.
 

Herberger Theater(including art gallery)

The Herberger Theater Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and foster the growth of performing arts in Phoenix as the premier performance venue, arts incubator and advocate. Take the opportunity to enjoy the arts right here in downtown Phoenix. Lunchtime shows come at reduced rates and showcase up-and-coming talent in the Phoenix arts community.
 

Heritage Square

At Heritage Square you can enjoy the beautiful rose garden, some nice shady spots for reading a book, or a stroll around some historic buildings. There is also some great little restaurants to grab a bite to eat. The tree-lined park is a popular home for major festivals and special events that bring thousands to the area each year.
 

Japanese Friendship garden

Also known as the Ro Ho En, the Japanese Friendship Garden is a peaceful place to visit in Phoenix. It was created to express the positive bond between the people of the United states and the people of Japan. Entertaining events and beautiful artistic displays can both be witnessed at this spectacular garden.

The Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA is conveniently attached to the SDFC for a fun mix of ASU and community events.  

Margaret T Hance Park

Named after a former mayor of the city of Phoenix – its home annually to the St. Patrick’s Day Irish Family Faire. Relax in the rolling hills of the park, have a catch with a buddy, play some ultimate Frisbee, or just take a peaceful walk
 

Phoenix Public Library

 
 

Phoenix Public Market (14 E. Pierce)

A great place to be part of the community downtown, go as a group and enjoy the hustle and bustle of some local fare. Also the location for Food Truck Fridays – a little slice of heaven!
 

Roosevelt Row

There is so much to do on Roosevelt Row, and it is ever evolving. This is a very eclectic, artful area full of vintage shops, small coffee shops and music venues. The corridor is re-emerging as one of the most dynamic areas in downtown Phoenix and a valued cultural resource in the metropolitan region and the state.
 

St. Mary’s Garden

An unexpected oasis in the downtown area. A place for a quiet moment of meditation or a stroll with friends.
 

Student Center @ the Post Office

Hang out in a beautifully designed space in one of Phoenix’s beautiful historic buildings. Go to the main level to watch some TV, grab a bite to eat from the P.O.D or just relax on some of the beautiful furniture (power outlets available). The lower level of the student center has foosball, ping pong and air hockey tables, a 70-inch television, which will soon have game consoles such as Xbox and Wii available to students who bring their own games. Student Organizations can reserve space for meetings, trainings or other organizational functions.
 

Taylor Place Shade Garden

A great place to relax with friends, eat your lunch, read or do some work on your laptop. Cool & easily accessible.
