New Student Orientation First year

First Year Orientation Experience

Welcome, Sun Devil. Your ASU experience starts here!

We are excited you have chosen to become part of the Sun Devil family! We’re here to support and provide you with the resources to ensure you start your journey as a Sun Devil successfully. Your experience at Arizona State University begins with the New Student Orientation Experience. This is an essential part of your college experience that provides a solid foundation for your success.

Your experience at Arizona State University is more than academics. The New Student Orientation Experience will allow you to make a successful transition to college. You’ll connect with future classmates, learn about the services available to help you succeed, and explore the various opportunities on how you can get involved. We can’t wait to see everything you will achieve during your time as a Sun Devil. Forks up!

Getting Started

The New Student Orientation Experience will guide you through everything you need to know about your new journey as a Sun Devil. Before you can begin your New Student Orientation Experience, a $300 enrollment deposit must be paid.

The enrollment deposit allows you to begin your next steps toward enrollment, which include registering for New Student Orientation, getting your ID card and selecting your room in a residence hall. You can submit your enrollment deposit beginning Oct. 1.

Pay Enrollment Deposit

Yes! If you are unable to pay online through your My ASU page, checks can be made payable to Arizona State University, and sent to: ASU New Student Programs, PO Box 872201, Tempe, AZ 85287-2201. Please include the student's 10-digit ASU ID number in the memo line.

For students enrolling in the fall semester, the enrollment deposit date is May 1. For students enrolling in the spring semester, the enrollment deposit date is December 1.   Enrollment deposits submitted on or after the May 1 and December 1 deadlines are not eligible for any refunds if the student declines their admission to ASU.

Incoming students who have paid the enrollment deposit and declined admission on or before the deadlines — May 1 for fall admission or December 1 for spring admission — are eligible for a refund. Once a student cancels their admission, an enrollment deposit refund will be triggered and refunded back in the method in which it was paid. Enrollment deposits submitted on or after the May 1 deadline for fall admission or the December 1 deadline for spring admission are not eligible for any refunds.

The maximum refund disbursed is $250 due to processing fees.

Academic Orientation Session

These are live, two-hour Zoom sessions where students have the opportunity to meet with their academic college and register for courses. Students have the opportunity to learn more about specific resources their academic college offers and what they can expect once the semester starts. You can register for an Academic Orientation Session by accessing the New Student Orientation Experience. During the registration process, you will be shown available dates based upon your academic college and major.

ASU Essentials

During this module, you will take care of essential tasks, including submitting your immunization records, uploading an ASU ID photo, and completing financial aid steps.

ASU Ready

Complete your final steps to learn about the ASU community and success as a Sun Devil as you prepare to embark on your journey.

Once you are registered for a session, you can reschedule for a different date here. Students who reschedule their Academic Orientation Session within 7 days of the program date will be assessed a $25 Change Fee.

Students who do not attend their Academic Orientation Session will be assessed a $50 No Show Fee.

Students who want to cancel their reservations must notify New Student Programs at 480-965-2880 or Orientation@asu.edu.

We are so excited to meet you virtually! In the New Student Orientation Experience your academic college has provided information on what to expect during your Academic Orientation Session. Please log in five minutes early from a laptop or desktop computer. If you have a camera available, you may be asked to turn your camera on to meet your Academic Advisor and other students.
