Registration is now open for ASU Family Weekend 2024! You’re invited to celebrate Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition with your Sun Devils on Friday through Sunday, Oct. 4-6. Family Weekend will feature a wide variety of exciting events for your entire family to enjoy as you reconnect with your student during an ASU football weekend.

Register below to attend this cherished fall tradition — and receive your exclusive promo to purchase discounted tickets for the ASU vs. Kansas home football game on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe. The Family Weekend registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 19 at 11:59 p.m.

We understand that the Jewish High Holiday Rosh Hashanah will take place from sundown on Oct. 2 through sundown on Oct. 4. We have connected with the leaders of Chabad at ASU and Hillel at ASU, who have shared that they are happy to welcome any Jewish families to join them for services and meals to observe Rosh Hashanah with their Sun Devils. When is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend 2024 will be held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 4-6. Registration will open in August and remain open through Thursday, Sept. 19. Registration will include the signature events calendar and discounts to Sun Devil Athletics programs including the maroon monsoon ASU home football game vs. Kansas at Mountain America Stadium. 

What is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend is a time-honored tradition held during the fall semester on the ASU campus. Current students invite their families to join them on campus for a weekend of events to celebrate Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition. Family members of all ages can enjoy activities hosted by academic colleges, campus departments, ASU Family and Sun Devil Athletics.

Who can attend?

Any ASU affiliated families — students, staff, faculty, alumni and their family members and guests of all ages are welcome to attend.

What is the cost of attending Family Weekend?

Family Weekend 2024 registration will be open from early August through September 19, 2024.  Registration costs cover all non-ticketed events, materials and the pre-game meal at the signature ASU Family Block Party on Saturday, Oct. 5. 

2024 registration fees:
$45 for guests and $20 for students. 
There is no charge for children under 5.
For families who register after September 19th, a $10 per ticket late fee will apply. 

Registration cancellations will be accepted until September 19. All refunds will deduct a 5% service charge to cover credit card transaction fees. 

For families for whom this will pose a financial hardship, please email asufamily@asu.edu. Certain events such as the Gold Rush 5K Race and other ticketed events have their own fees attached. All pricing will be available with registration.

Where should we stay for Family Weekend?

Families can choose from a variety of accommodations to best suit their needs. Discounted hotel options are available through Sept. 4, or until rooms fill, and listed on the bottom of the ASU Family Weekend website. For additional information on traveling to ASU, go to https://visit.asu.edu/travel.

What time should families arrive in town on Friday?

Check-in will begin at each campus the morning of Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, with events typically beginning mid-morning/early afternoon. We encourage participating families to plan to arrive by midday Friday to maximize their weekend. The 2024 schedule is still available on the website as a reference and the 2024 schedule will launch in early August. 

For families who choose to arrive early to observe Rosh Hashanah with their student, Chabad and Hillel will welcome any Jewish families to join them for services and meals. More information on Rosh Hashanah and other Jewish community events during Family Weekend will be available on our Family Weekend calendar later this summer. 

When will the full schedule of events be available to participants?

The full Family Weekend 2024 schedule will be released in August to help families plan their weekend. All participants will be emailed the schedule, which will also be posted on this website

Why should I go to check-in?

Please join us at check into get your Sun Devil swag and required badges that give you access to ASU events throughout the weekend.

Can my student check in for us if we all cannot attend check-in?

Yes, your student or any one member of your group may check in for everyone.

How long does check-in last?

Check-in takes about 10 minutes to complete, and you may arrive at any point in the check-in time window to begin the process.

Is registration required for all events?

Registration is required for select events taking place on Friday evening through Sunday to ensure accurate counts for food, seating and supplies. You may refer to the full events list on the Family Weekend Schedule to see which events require registration.

Not everyone in our group could make it. How do I request a refund for their fee? 

We encourage you to invite one of your student’s friends whose family is unable to attend to utilize your remaining ticket(s). Should you need additional assistance, email familyweekend@asu.edu and include your name, contact phone, email address and confirmation number for the individuals along with the special circumstances impacting your request. All refund requests must be received by noon on September 19. All cancellations are subject to a 5% credit card processing fee.  

SDFC Access

Family Weekend participants can access all SDFC locations throughout the weekend with their badge. Families can utilize equipment or join classes. 

Can I go to class with my student?

Most faculty members will allow guests to visit their classrooms during Family Weekend. Have your student check with their professor prior to your visit.

What time is the Gold Rush?

The Gold Rush 5K is built to inspire all Sun Devils to run, walk, stroll, and laugh their way to an unabashed sense of triumph! The course is 3.2 (ish) miles. Grab your whole family and spend some time together navigating the ASU Tempe Campus in this fun 5k. Participation in Gold Rush requires an additional $10 fee per participant. 

What time is the ASU Family Block Party?

The event begins at 1:30 p.m, three and a half hours prior to kickoff of the Kansas vs. ASU football game. 

What time is the football game?

Kickoff time is 5 p.m., be sure to pack your maroon ASU gear as this will be a Maroon Monsoon game! The game will also be a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.

Where can I get help if I have questions during Family Weekend?

Each campus has information centers with access to Family Weekend event information as well as general campus and university resources. These locations are indicated with a star on the printed Family Weekend Guide distributed at check-in:

  • Downtown Phoenix - Student Center @ the Post Office
  • Polytechnic - Student Union
  • Tempe - Memorial Union
  • West - University Center

There will also be an I Can Help Booth station located at the ASU Family Block Party during Saturday’s pre-game activities.

The ASU App is also a great resource for campus information and interactive maps right at your fingertips. We recommend downloading the app and using it to help navigate campus and events.

Are football tickets included in Family Weekend registration?

No; football tickets need to be purchased separately directly through Sun Devil Athletics. However, once you pay for the Family Weekend registration, a discount code to use when you purchase football tickets is made available in addition to the event confirmation email. 

Do students need to purchase tickets to the football game?

If the student would like to sit with their family, then they will need to purchase a ticket. However, students may sit in the student section for no charge.

How do I get my tickets if we haven’t received them yet?

Sun Devil Athletics is a mobile ticketing athletic department. All tickets will be loaded onto your online account manager.

Will I receive a discount for other athletic events during Family Weekend?

Yes; an additional discount code will be available for all home events during Family Weekend for all Sun Devil Athletics events which require a ticket.

Intercampus Shuttle

All Family Weekend participants can use the Intercampus shuttle system throughout the weekend with their Family Weekend badge. 

Parking

Pay-by-hour parking for Friday check-in and events is available at any daily/hourly lot. For close  access to check-in:

  • Downtown Phoenix - UC2 and UCENT lots. 
  • Polytechnic - Lot 49 surface lot parking
  • Tempe - Fulton Center garage on University Dr. and College Ave 
  • West Valley - North Zone parking with overflow available in the South Zone, Lot 20. 

Free Parking

Free parking will be available on Friday at  the following locations

  • Downtown: 4th Ave Lot unenforced during Family Weekend
  • Poly/West Valley: All surface lots are complimentary
  • Tempe: Participants must park in a gated garage and bring their ticket to check-in for validation. ASU cannot validate or provide reimbursement for parking in a non-gated (pay by the spot, meter, etc.) lot that does not provide a ticket upon entry. 

Where can I park on Saturday for events?

  • Downtown Phoenix- Campus and City lots and metered parking available. See the ASU campus parking website for additional details. Be sure to also grab a Family Weekend Guide provided at check-in for further event information and parking options. 4th Avenue lot will not be enforced over the weekend. 
  • Tempe- All parking for the game on Saturday will adhere to the game day guidelines. Guest/Pay lots open 3.5 hours prior to kick-off (4:00 p.m. for the Kansas game), and rates range from $20-40 depending on the lot. Please see the parking map for further details.
  • Polytechnic & West Valley- Parking restrictions will not be enforced on weekends in lots on the West Valley and Polytechnic campuses. 

What public transportation options are available?

The Valley Metro Rail is a regional rail system that runs from Mesa to Phoenix. You can hop on at either end — Dunlap and 19th Avenue, or Main Street and Gilbert Road — or at the many stops in between, including ASU’s Tempe and Downtown Phoenix campuses. Student fares are available. For travel to the Downtown Phoenix campus, utilize stop 15: Van Buren/Central Ave. For the Tempe Campus utilize either stop 25: Mill Ave/Third or 26: Veterans Way/College Ave. valleymetro.org/maps-schedules/rail.

Polytechnic

Shuttles depart from the Twining Street stop outside of the Lantana Residence Hall at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. prior to the 5 p.m. kickoff, with drop-off at the Forest Avenue Intercampus Shuttle stop, adjacent to the Family Weekend Block Party. The shuttle will return from Mountain America Stadium 30 minutes after last whistle. You will board the shuttle to return to Polytechnic in Lot 59N. Be sure to bring your clear bag and clear factory-sealed water bottle (51 oz or smaller). 

West Valley

Shuttles depart from Verde Dining Pavilion 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.. he shuttle will return 30 minutes after the last whistle. You will board the shuttle in Lot 59E. Be sure to bring all items in your Family Weekend clear bag and download your tickets before boarding the shuttle.

Is parking available on Sunday?

Surface lots will be free of charge on all campus locations. Gated garages and lots require payment 24/7. Please observe posted parking regulations for information. For Spirit Hike participants, we recommend parking in Lots 58/59 adjacent to Mountain America Stadium  for free parking or across Veteran’s way at the Stadium Garage.

Who can I contact if we need transportation on campus?

Friday

Should you need support attending a program on Friday, you may call our Student Accessibility and Inclusive Learning Services (SAILS) team to request a DART Cart at the number below. There may be a short wait as these carts will need to prioritize getting students to classes. Carts will be available until 6:45 p.m. at Tempe and until 4:50 p.m. at Downtown, Polytechnic and West Valley.

Saturday

For Saturday’s game day festivities, we will be offering cart services before the Family Weekend Block Party and Mountain America Stadium. For families attending the football game, we encourage you to park in the Packard Structure. Pickup from this location to the Family Weekend Block Party will be available beginning at 1 p.m. For traveling to Mountain America Stadium, cart service will be available 3-5 p.m. from the Northside of WIlson hall located at the North end of the Family Weekend Block Party. Drop off will be at the Sun Devil Athletics Cart pick-up point, ensuring you can get up to the stadium entrance and then utilize Sun Devil Athletics accessibility services. Following the game, please utilize the Sun Devil Athletics cart service to return to the Packard structure.

Where can I find a map of campus?

Maps and driving directions to each of the campuses is available at asu.edu/map/interactive/ and we also recommend downloading the ASU App for an interactive map and wayfinding steps for easy navigation on and between all campuses.
