Digital Photography Lecture Series
This is a lecture series featuring faculty from the Digital Photography Online Program. This week Betsy Schneider will be presenting. Betsy Schneider is a photographer and filmmaker who explores and documents transformations of individuals and families over time and place. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan, a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California. She is the Founder, Lead Instructor and Coordinator of ASU's Online BFA in Digital Photography.

Listen in to our Masterpieces at Midday: The Adventures of Adriana Varejão conversation with LACMA-ASU Curatorial Fellow Ariana Enriquez to learn about the artist and Ariana's work as a registrar at the ASU Art Museum. Presented on Zoom on June 16, 2020.

The Impossible Notecard Challenge
ASU's Youth Entrepreneurship Team focuses on empowering innovators of all ages through engaging, hands on lessons and activities. This activity is self-guided and was created on a 3D virtual reality platform called CoSpaces. Participants only need a few index cards, scissors, and 30 minutes to complete the challenge!

The VR experience will guide participants through the challenge as they try to recreate the ""Impossible Notecard"" with various constraints. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the ""Fail Forward"" mentality. Learning by doing at it's finest! The Youth Entrepreneurship Team is part of the J. Sparky’s Race to Kickoff Virtual 5K and Fun Run


Join us between Nov. 6th-8th, to chase down football season with the inaugural Sparky’s Race to Kickoff; Virtual 5K and Fun Run. Our family-friendly virtual run can be completed at any location and any time during the designated dates. You can do the race inside on a treadmill, or practice safe physical distancing by running or walking outside. Once your race is completed, share your photos by tagging your favorite Sun Devil Athletics social accounts. Proceeds support our 650 Sun Devil student-athletes.

Veteran's Honor Run


Join us for a virtual1-mile, 5K or 10K walk/run to pay tribute to those who have served. The virtual event is FREE and open to the public! You can complete your run on 11/04/2020 or any date close. Register to join the community and receive encouragement, updates and reminders about the event! Remember to post pictures on social media using #VETFUNRUN2020 or tag @ASUPolytech or @chandlergilbertcc on Instagram. Custom "buffs/neck gaiters" will be sent to those who complete the run (while supplies last). ASU Polytechnic students can join on campus for a small, in-person experience at 7 am on 11/04/2020.

Composer/performer/experimenter Lainie Fefferman will discuss the ways in which her feminism and her Judaism have been provocation and inspiration in her recent work. She will focus in on three pieces as examples and points of departure: "Tekiah," a liturgical work for bagpipe and electronics; "Here I Am," an oratorio in 9 movements; and "White Fire," a song cycle as feminist meditation on her Jewish heritage through processed vocals and live electronics. She will discuss the generative concepts of these works, as well as the techniques and technologies deployed in the conception, composition, performance and recording of each. She will also discuss performance space / listening space and context as they relate to audience perception and reception of political and/or religious work.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Speaker Series - Aruna D'Souza

Aruna D'Souza writes about modern and contemporary art; intersectional feminisms and other forms of politics; and how museums shape our views of each other and the world. Her most recent book, Whitewalling: Art, Race, and Protest in 3 Acts (Badlands Unlimited), was named one of the best art books of 2018 by the New York Times. Her work appears regularly in 4Columns.org, where she is a member of the editorial advisory board, and has also been published in The Wall Street Journal, CNN.com, Art News, Garage, Bookforum, Momus, Art in America, and Art Practical, among other places. W. P. Carey invites you to an evening with faculty and a live student pitch competition. All business students take WPC 101, in which they work on a group project called the “Entrepreneurship Challenge.” Student teams identify a problem, then work together to find a solution, develop a business plan and present it within their classes. Winners are selected from more than 160 different classes, narrowed down by student leaders, and the top five will be presenting to judges during this event.

MLFTC Sunny Days … in Arizona

“Sesame Street” might not exist today had it not been for two Arizona natives. Joan Ganz Cooney, of Phoenix, was co-creator of the popular TV show. In 1973, federal funding for the Children’s Television Workshop was supported by Senator Barry Goldwater, a family friend of Cooney’s. Mark your calendars, Playfest is going virtual Saturday, Nov. 7! Engage the artist within and join us for a day of creative fun from the comfort of your home. Stop by the museum beginning Oct. 31 to pick up your free bag full of creative activities, complete with instructions and art making supplies. Then, join us live Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. on Zoom for an hour of virtual programming featuring activity demonstrations, storytime, meditation with the ASU Center for Mindfulness, a movement activity inspired by animals with artist Allyson Yoder and a special activity with conceptual artist Emmett Potter.
