Alliance of Indigenous Peoples

The Alliance of Indigenous Peoples is a student-led alliance that serves to represent and unify any and all self-identifying Indigenous voices at Arizona State University in an effort to ensure that all students are provided appropriate resources and support to develop into holistic Indigenous leaders. The Alliance of Indigenous Peoples encourages social awareness of the impact of colonization on the Indigenous student experience among students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Their primary goal is retention, completion, and graduation, of any and all self-identifying Indigenous students at Arizona State University.

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

Join us as we honor the vibrant traditions and histories of the collective Native and Indigenous Peoples during Native American Heritage Month! Our student community, through clubs and organizations connected to the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples, has curated a meaningful series of events that celebrate the art, music, food, stories, and cultural practices of Native heritage.

Native American Heritage Month is an Alliance of Indigenous Peoples initiative, an ASU-registered student organization. All student organizations abide by a strict nondiscrimination policy. Everyone is welcome to participate or apply without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, or any other characteristic protected by law.

VOSA

Voices of O’odham Students at ASU (VOSA) provides a unified forum for inter-university dialogue, organizes student involvement, and endorses and administers services, resources, and programs that benefit the O’odham students of Arizona State University. To utilize and emphasize VOSA's purpose, we strive to promote mentorship, culture, community, education, and advocacy. Within our values, we endeavor for higher education, decolonization and indigenization of education, representation building, and highlighting the presence of O’odham students.

Christopher Sharp

Christopher Sharp
School of Social Work

Christopher Sharp, M.S.W, M.P.A, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Director of Office of American Indian Projects, within the School of Social Work at the Arizona State University. He is of the Mohave tribe, descendant of the Frog Clan (Bouh'th) and a citizen of the Colorado River Indian Tribes. He teaches courses as a professor, serves as a field liaison to students in Tribal and urban American Indian-serving field placement settings, and is the advisor for the American Indian Social Work Student Association. He earned his B.S. in American Indian Studies, Master of Social Work, and Master of Public Administration at ASU. Chris serves on the National Advisory Committee for the FRIENDS CB-CAP technical assistance center, the Governing Council of the Indigenous and Tribal Social Work Educators Association, as Secretary of the Native American Connections Board of Directors, and is a member of the Council on Social Work Education and National Indian Child Welfare Association.
