Karen S. Moses, E.D.D, R.D., C.H.E.S.

Director
Karen has directed the delivery of ASU Wellness services at ASU since 1989. She has developed a dynamic program that educates students and advocates for changes in the environment to improve the health, wellness and safety of ASU students. She has designed and implemented programs addressing many issues relevant to ASU students, including nutrition, stress management, high risk drinking, and sexual assault prevention. Karen brings experience as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Education Specialist. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Dietetics at Arizona State University.

Karen actively seeks to improve the health of college students in Arizona and nationally through leadership in state and national associations. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Health in Higher Education Knowledge Community for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators , and as Regional Director for AZ-NM-UT in the national Network to Address Collegiate Alcohol, Other Drug and Violence Prevention. She is a Fellow of the American College Health Association (ACHA), and has held positions in ACHA as Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors, Chair of the Health Promotion Section, and Co-Chair of the Healthy Campus 2010 Task Force. She is a Past-President of the Arizona Dietetic Association.
 

Joel Hutchinson, Ph.D.

Associate Director
Joel has worked at ASU since 1986, providing students counseling and overseeing Wellness and Outreach programming at ASU Counseling Services, prior to joining ASU Wellness this year. Over the last 25 years, as a licensed psychologist, he provided individual, group and couples counseling to numerous ASU students. Recognizing the multiple stressors students experience, he designed and offers a variety of outreach presentations to help students manage feelings of depression, anxiety and stress. More recently he has incorporated concepts of mindfulness and positive psychology into his programs. Joel received his B.A from Brown University, M. Ed. from Boston College and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
 

Freddy Roman, M.P.H.E.

Assistant Director
Assistant Director Freddy has worked at ASU since 1993 and with ASU Wellness since 1996, where she has coordinated several wellness areas and initiatives. At present, Freddy oversees various wellness programs, events and peer education initiatives at the Downtown Phoenix Campus. Before coming to ASU, she worked in the field of Community Health and Medical Anthropology on various grant-funded projects based at the Hispanic Health Council in Hartford, Connecticut, Johns Hopkins University, Rotary International Foundation, the University of New Mexico and the University of California in Hayward. She is the advisor to the AIDS HOPE Student Organization, the CARE Student Organization, DPC AWARE Student Organization and a mentor to the Obama Scholarship Program. She received her B.S. in Social Work and M.S. in Public Health Education at the University of Puerto Rico.
 

Lynda Seefeldt, M.S.

Assistant Director
Lynda has worked at ASU since 1998 and with ASU Wellness since 2003. She coordinates Marketing and Communications and the Online Wellness Program.  Previously, she worked for Campus Recreation as the Wellness and Group Fitness Coordinator.  She received her B.S. in Fitness Management and her M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Delaware.
 

Joana R. Pabedinskas, Ph.D., CSCS

Health Educator, Senior
Joana has worked at ASU since 1997 and with ASU Wellness since 2005. She coordinates the Evaluation and Research for the department. Before joining ASU Wellness, she worked with Campus Recreation where she most recently served as Fitness and Wellness Coordinator. Joana was on the ASU Varsity Women’s Basketball team while completing her undergraduate degree. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science (concentration Exercise & Wellness) and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Exercise & Wellness, all at Arizona State University.
 

Karin Eli, D.Phil.

Health Educator, Senior
Karin first became involved with ASU Wellness through an internship in 2002. She is now responsible for the evaluation of ASU Wellness programs and presentations, the ongoing integration of research results in program development, and writing for grant-related proposals and projects. Karin has a BA in Anthropology from Arizona State University, an MSc in Medical Anthropology from the University of Oxford, and a DPhil in Social Anthropology, also from the University of Oxford.
 

Kimberly Frick, M.Ed.

Health Educator, Senior
Kimberly joined ASU Wellness in 2010, and is a Health Educator for the Healthy Relationships and Sexual Violence Prevention Program. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Spanish Literature from the University of Arizona in 2008, and her M.Ed. in Higher and Post-Secondary Education with a focus in college student wellness from Arizona State University in 2010.
 

Breanna Hill, B.S

Health Educator, Senior

Breanna earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Education; emphasizing in Community Health from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. With significant experience in student engagement and community health, Breanna has molded her professional career by executing initiatives regarding sexual health, healthy relationships, leadership and programming special events. Within ASU Wellness, Breanna is responsible for implementing programming and education aligned with the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education grant awarded to ASU Wellness from the Arizona Department of Health Services across all four ASU Locations, in addition to promoting University-Wide Community Health and creating environments where students lead change within Arizona State University.
 

Victor Corral, B.S.

Health Educator

Victor earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Wellness emphasizing in Health Promotion and a second Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with an emphasis in Healthy Lifestyles Coaching from Arizona State University in 2012. After graduation, Victor completed a five month internship with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA focusing on diabetes education in local health departments. Before ASU Wellness, he was involved in the field of corporate wellness as a health coach. Victor joined ASU Wellness in 2013 and he is responsible for implementing wellness initiatives predominantly in Tempe.
 

Chanler Hilley, B.S.

Health Educator

Chanler Hilley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. He has been actively involved in health education outreach and research in various capacities and has presented research at national and local levels. Chanler’s professional interests include tobacco prevention, alcohol education and health-related decision making among college students. Chanler joined ASU Wellness in 2013 and he is responsible for implementing wellness initiatives predominantly for ASU West.
 

Jessica Keene, B.S.

Health Educator

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with an emphasis in Healthy Lifestyle Coaching from Arizona State University. She has extensive experience in helping students understand the importance of fitness and active living, proper nutrition and teaching stress management. Jessica joined ASU Wellness in 2013 and she is the responsible for implementing wellness initiatives predominately for ASU at Downtown Phoenix.
 

Amanda Gordon, M.S.

Health Educator

Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Fitness and Wellness Management from Brigham Young University in 2009 and a Master of Science degree in Exercise and Wellness with a concentration in Health Promotion from Arizona State University in 2013. She has been actively engaged in promoting overall healthy behaviors in community and worksite settings for six years, with an emphasis in physical activity. Amanda joined ASU Wellness in 2014 and is predominantly responsible for implementing wellness initiatives in Tempe.
 

Monica Montalvo

Administrative Associate
Monica has worked at ASU since 1990. She joined the ASU Wellness staff in 2004 after working in the lab at ASU Health Services. She coordinates the office support and reception services of ASU Wellness.
 

Patrick Clark

Graphic Designer
Patrick G Clark is a graphic designer and design educator living in Tempe, AZ. He has studied design and typography at Arizona State University and Basel School of Design, Switzerland. His focus is contemporary and functional typographic systems that connect people with information. Patrick follows a simple, and explorative approach to making things. He is excited by the discoveries and happy accidents that occur during the design process.
 

Mary O'Brien, B.S.

Bicycle Education Coordinator
Mary earned her Bachelor of Science in Urban Economic Geography from the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire in 2004 and anticipates graduating from ASU's Master of Urban and Environmental Planning program in May 2014. She has worked as a GIS Analyst in Wisconsin, a Transportation Planner with an emphasis on Bicycle Transportation Planning in Minnesota, and an aspiring author of children's books teaching basic life skills in Puerto Rico. Mary joined ASU Wellness in 2013 and coordinates bicycle education and promotion to the ASU campus community to foster healthy lifestyles.
