The Solera Experience at ASU West is a two-day experience for all incoming first-year and transfer students at the ASU West campus. The Solera Experience at ASU West is strongly recommended to help you develop friendships, connect with caring staff and award-winning faculty, and become familiar with campus and ASU traditions. The Solera Experience will help you build a strong foundation for your college career and create lasting memories to add to your Sun Devil story.
Annual Solera at West Cardboard Boat Race
Who will win the Solera Cardboard Boat Race? One member from each team will be selected to captain the boat and compete against each other to be the fastest boat to cross the Sun Devil Fitness Complex (SDFC) pool.
Who Should Attend
Participation in the Solera Experience at ASU West is expected for all first-year students enrolled in the following colleges at ASU's West campus:
- Barrett, the Honors College
- College of Health Solutions
- Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation
- Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions
- Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College
- New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences
- Thunderbird School of Global Management
- W. P. Carey School of Business
Frequently asked questions
Solera Experience at ASU West check-in takes place on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 12:45 p.m. at the LaSala Ballroom. The program will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Additional information for both residential and off-campus students will be emailed to participants a week before the Solera Experience at ASU West begins.
Students living on campus during the academic year will be staying in their assigned room. Students who will be commuting to campus during the academic year are encouraged to attend Solera and should plan to commute to West campus each day. Solera participants who are commuting will simply coordinate their arrival and departure each day with their team leaders. We want all new ASU West campus students to attend Solera and will do whatever we can to ensure students are able to attend.

- Sneakers and socks (closed-toe shoes required for certain activities)
