Join us to hear Brigadier General Tom Webster (USAF Ret) as he delves into the history of Close Air Support (CAS), one of the Air Force's most challenging missions. As a former A-10 and F-16 pilot, he held various command positions, specializing in Close Air Support Missions throughout his career. He will trace the history of CAS, which plays a vital role in the military's air/land battle team.

Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University has named Bill Nye as the 2024 John J. Rhodes Chair.

Nye is an American science educator, engineer, comedian, television presenter, author and inventor known as Bill Nye, "The Science Guy.”

As Rhodes Chair, Nye will deliver this year’s Rhodes Lecture, presented by Barrett Honors College. The event, titled “Climate Change & You," is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway.

“Expect a good time,” said Nya Salahdeen, an ASU sophomore double majoring in theater and marketing who plays the role of Mrs. Peacock. “Leave your stresses at the door, because it’s going to be a great show.”

Professor Jordan will cover some of the history and important recent discoveries in quantum physics, focusing on the theme of quantum measurement. Topics such as measurement reversal, entanglement by measurement, and how a quantum measurement can be continuous will be covered at an accessible level. The talk is reflective of his forthcoming book, Quantum Measurement: Theory and Practice, which he has written with his co-author, Irfan Siddiqi (University of California, Berkeley).

Join celebrated gardener, writer, and historian Abra Lee for a special event at Desert Botanical Garden on March 6. Lee will share stories behind key figures from her upcoming book Conquer the Soil. Her talk will focus on the lives of African Americans with careers in horticulture and gardening. In collaboration with ASU's Project Humanities, Lee will be joined by local gardeners and horticulturalists for a discussion about empowering lives through gardening.
