Participants in grades 7 - 9 will be introduced to the engineering design process while learning basic science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) concepts like simple machines, electric circuits, programming, computational thinking, music, and storytelling. The project-based approach will emphasize problem identification, brainstorming, problem-solving, rapid prototyping, teamwork, and communication.

School of Art Summer Camp- Launch yourself into new universes while exploring favorite animations and graphic illustrations! Invent your own stories, characters, and worlds as you create and illustrate your own comics, anime, or manga. Collaborate with peers or develop unique drawings as you learn to storyboard, practice figures and poses, explore color palettes, and more.

The School of Arts, Media and Engineering hosts a summer program for students in grades 6th-12th, featuring 5-day, project-focused workshops. Students work directly with faculty and graduate students who are experts in their field. Open to students of all levels of experience, we offer a variety of interdisciplinary classes infused with ideas and practices from the arts, music, digital media, computer science, technology, and engineering. Future makers, artists, designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs will learn skills valuable for the technology-infused, fast-paced 21st century.

Campers will build and program functional robots using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime kits. Students will begin by building a basic robot equipped with programmable sensors. Then, students can let their imagination soar as they adapt their robots to complete a variety of challenges including a line-following challenge, climb-the-mountain challenge, and everyone’s favorite, the sumo ring tournament!
