The ASU Black African Convocation recognizes, honors and celebrates the academic success and accomplishments of ASU’s Black and African students pursuing higher education. Participation is open to all students graduating in the Fall and Spring semesters. 

Deadline to register is Sunday, April 26 

  • RSVP on your graduation tab on your myASU
  • Family and friends are welcome. Tickets are required and will be available at the doors of Gammage Auditorium.  
  • Graduates are asked to check-in by 10 a.m. to prepare for the formal processional that will begin at 11 a.m.
  • All graduates are required to wear an official ASU cap and gown during the convocation ceremony. You may purchase your regalia at the Sun Devil Campus Bookstores. 

Attire- All graduates must procure their own cap and gown, which must be worn during the ceremony. You can purchase your regalia at The Sun Devil Campus Bookstores will have product on hand up to and including the day of graduation.

Student Speaker- If you are interested in serving as the student speaker during convocation, please complete the Black African Convocation Speaker Application by April 17. If you have any questions feel free to contact Student and Cultural Engagement at (480) 965-9600 or by email at

Invite ASU Staff/Faculty- Graduates are encouraged to invite staff and faculty who have contributed to their success at ASU. This invitation is open to all staff and faculty members of Arizona State University. Please share the Special Interest Convocation Faulty/Staff Registration Form to any staff or faculty that you would like to invite.
