The ASU Black African Convocation recognizes, honors and celebrates the academic success and accomplishments of ASU’s Black and African students pursuing higher education. Participation is open to all students graduating in the Fall and Spring semesters.  

Deadline to RSVP is Monday, April 22, 2019. 

  • RSVP on your graduation tab on your myASU
  • Family and friends are welcome. Tickets will be available at the entrance to Gammage.
  • Graduates are asked to check in by 9:45 a.m. to prepare for the formal processional that will begin at 11 a.m. Graduates: Bring your ASU ID for security check-in. 
  • All graduates are required to wear an official ASU cap and gown during the convocation ceremony. You may purchase your regalia at the Sun Devil Campus Bookstores. 

Attire- All graduates must procure their own cap and gown, which must be worn during the ceremony. You can purchase your regalia at The Sun Devil Campus Bookstores will have product  on hand up to and including the day of graduation.

Student Speaker- If you are interested in serving as the student speaker during convocation, please complete the Black African Convocation Speaker Application. Deadline to apply is April 7, 2019. Invite ASU Staff/Faculty- Graduates are encouraged to invite staff and faculty who have contributed to their success at ASU. This invitation is open to all staff and faculty members of Arizona State University. Please share the Special Interest Convocation Faulty/Staff Registration Form to any staff or faculty that you would like to invite. 

Clear Bag Policy- To enhance public safety and make ASU venues access more efficient, all ASU venues adopted a Clear Bag Policy. All guests may bring in one (1) clear bag no larger than 12'' x 6'' x 12'' or a 1-gallon plastic storage bag. Guests are limited to one clear bag per person, along with a small clutch or purse for privacy. Guests with prohibited bags will need to return their bags to their vehicle and transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag before entering the venue.
