ASU Wear Purple Day, also known nationally as Purple Thursday, held annually in October as a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, is a national event to raise awareness around domestic violence.
This year's wear purple day was a success! Mark your calendars for next year on October 16, 2025. Check out our Instagram for a look back on this year's DVAM events and our upcoming events!
Beginning in October 2017 during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, ASU students, staff and faculty have worn purple in order to raise awareness around domestic violence. In October 2017, large white and purple stickers with a message of support to victims were given to all who chose to participate.
The color purple is used throughout the month to signify domestic violence awareness and survivor support. Join us this year as faculty, staff and students wear purple to band together against domestic violence and stand in solidarity with survivors.
The best way to be involved throughout the month is to follow the Sexual and Relationship Violence Program social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Every day there will be ways to engage with educational content, answer polls, pose questions, raise awareness and more. Preventing sexual and relationship violence means ensuring all our environments, including our virtual ones, are welcoming to everyone, including victims and survivors.
Have any online meetings or class sessions coming up? Consider downloading our Domestic Violence Awareness Month Zoom Background to use during October and our Wear Purple Day Zoom Background for October 24th.
Request a Wear Purple Day sticker by October 14th or pick one up at an upcoming tabling event. Tabling event locations will be shared on our Instagram.
