Sun Devils may be nominated for a Pitchfork Award for their programming, activities and accomplishments completed between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31.

 

Award Categories

Emerging Student Leader

Awarded to a newer ASU student leader who has demonstrated excellent leadership accomplishments and displays promising future contributions to the ASU community within the first year of service/leadership. A student is not eligible to win both the Emerging Leader and Outstanding Leader award.

Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader

Awarded to an ASU undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership. Candidates for this award should embody the Sun Devil Way: Achievement, Engagement, and Responsibility. A student is not eligible to win both the Emerging Leader & Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader Awards; please choose the category that best fits the student you are nominating.

Outstanding Graduate Student Leader

Awarded to an ASU graduate student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership. Candidates for this award should embody the Sun Devil Way: Achievement, Engagement, and Responsibility. A student is not eligible to win both the Emerging Leader & Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Awards; please choose the category that best fits the student you are nominating.

Outstanding Faculty Advisor

The Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to student success, leadership development, and the overall growth of their student organization. This award honors an advisor who has gone above and beyond in their role, providing guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support to their students. Their commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging environment has had a lasting impact on both the organization and the campus community.

Sport Club Athlete of the Year

Awarded to a Sports Club athlete who has demonstrated a strong sense of leadership and initiative. This student models athletic excellence, outstanding performance, and exemplary sportsmanship while driving both individual and team success. The recipient embodies Sun Devil spirit, pride, and tradition, and reflects the values of the ASU Charter and the Sun Devil Way through integrity, inclusive excellence, and commitment to community impact.

Outstanding Fraternity & Sorority Member of the Year

Outstanding Fraternity & Sorority Member of the Year is for members of Fraternities or Sororities. This award recognizes a fraternity or sorority member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to their chapter, the ASU Greek community, and the university.

New Student Organization of the Year Awarded

to a new ASU student organization (first registered on or after January 1, 2025) demonstrating excellent first-year accomplishments, a commitment to developing their own membership and/or developing programming to engage the greater campus community. This organization shows promise to be successful in the years to come and to contribute to the ASU community. 

Outstanding Graduate Student Organization

Awarded to an ASU graduate-level registered student organization comprised primarily of graduate students at Arizona State University that demonstrates outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the ASU and graduate student communities. Nominees for this category should engage with the larger campus community to build affinity towards the university and be examples of spirit, pride, and/or tradition. Organizations should embody the values of the ASU Charter and/or the Sun Devil Way.

Outstanding Undergraduate Student Organization

Awarded to an ASU-Undergraduate level registered student organization composed primarily of undergraduate students at Arizona State University that demonstrates outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the ASU and undergraduate student communities. Nominees for this category should engage with the larger campus community to build affinity towards the university and be examples of spirit, pride, and/or tradition. Organizations should embody the values of the ASU Charter.

Sport Club of the Year

Awarded to a Sports Club that has demonstrated exceptional leadership, organization, and initiative throughout the year. This club models athletic excellence, competitive success, and exemplary sportsmanship while fostering a strong sense of teamwork and community. The organization drives both individual development and collective achievement, embodying Sun Devil spirit, pride, and tradition. The club reflects the values of the ASU Charter and the Sun Devil Way by promoting integrity and student success.

Outstanding Educational Program

Awarded to a student-led event that encourages students to participate in the intellectual life of the university and/or understand the intersection of academic and co-curricular life. Nominations should showcase one or more academic disciplines, advance student-driven research or scholarly activity, foster student-led discovery, facilitate conversation or promote awareness on a specific issue relevant to the student body, or focus on programming related to the exploration of opportunities based on skills, interests, and passions, or build skills within a professional area or field.

Outstanding Entertainment Program

Awarded to an outstanding student-led event with the primary goal of providing entertainment or a social outlet (in person or virtual/online) for ASU students. The program should be creative, reflective of the current student population, appeal to a wide audience, and exemplify the ASU Charter and/or the Sun Devil Way.

Outstanding Sustainable Program

Awarded to an ASU student-led effort that has shown exceptional leadership in advancing sustainability at ASU. The program should align with one or more of ASU’s overarching sustainability goals (https://cfo.asu.edu/sustainability-goals-and-vision). 

Changemaker Award

Awarded to a program that demonstrates exceptional leadership and impact by advocating for or raising awareness around local, national, or international civic and social causes beyond ASU. This program should promote inclusive excellence and showcase a deeper understanding of the unique needs of our campus and broader communities. Programs may be educational, service focused and/or celebratory in nature and should align with ASU’s aspirations to leverage our place, transform society, remain socially embedded, and promote civic engagement.

Outstanding Collaborative Program (3+ student organizations)

The Outstanding Collaborative Program is awarded to programs which exemplify the positive outcomes of collaboration within or between three or more student organizations. This program must be a true collaboration between multiple organizations, with planning, implementation, and evaluation work divided among partners. Please detail the collaborative contributions of each group.

Well Devil Award - Outstanding Wellness Program

Awarded to an outstanding student-led effort that has shown exceptional leadership in taking preventative measures in wellness endeavors. The project or program should be innovative and align with ASU’s wellness goals to establish an ASU community that embraces physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of self and others as fundamental to the Sun Devil experience.

Outstanding Residential Program

Awarded to an outstanding Residential Program that fosters creative connections and innovative social engagement within campus housing, enriching the on-campus living experience and strengthening community life. This program demonstrates a strong commitment to student success, fosters a positive living environment, and meaningfully engages students in spirit, pride, and tradition through intentional programming and community-building efforts.

Nomination Criteria


Please provide a written statement of support. Nomination statements should be detailed, fully developed, and include specific examples. Honorees are selected based on their excelling in the award criteria so please include detailed examples of how they best meet the award criteria listed above. Pay particular attention to providing examples of how the nominee promotes ASU spirit, pride, and tradition in all they do. The selection committee will only have the information provided in the nomination upon which to base their decision.
