Academic Programs & Workshops

ASU offers a variety of for-credit courses and certificates examining gender and sexuality studies, as well as workshops and training programs for students, faculty and staff designed to promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and provide tools to creating greater inclusivity within their environments.

Workshops

  • Sun Devil Civility ​​​
    • SafeZONE — a three-hour, in-depth workshop designed to increase the overall campus community's understanding and awareness of issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual/allied (LGBTQIA+) and other marginalized students. SafeZONE was created to encourage a more inclusive and accepting campus climate.
    • Diversity & Inclusion Workshop Series
      • Global Allies —  75 minute interactive workshop designed to broaden its participants’ understanding of culture, introduce the concepts of intercultural competence, and increase cross-cultural sensitivity, awareness and understanding.
      • Interfaith Identities — 75 minute interactive workshop emphasizing intersectional dialogues focused on our shared humanity and encompasses discussion about various faith traditions, spiritual practices and world views.
      • Navigating the Rainbow of Inclusion —  75 minute interactive workshop focusing on understanding the intersectionality of sex, gender & sexuality as components of identity, while identifying strategies to move through the continuum of tolerance, acceptance, respect, and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community at ASU & beyond.
      • Same Spaces, Difference Faces — 75-minute interactive workshop exploring ways to talk about, learn from, and deepen experiences across the rich tapestry of cultures at ASU with an emphasis on intercultural dialogue and diversity.

 

  • DreamZone — DREAMzone is a resource for the Arizona State University community regarding undocumented and DACAmented students. Resources include workshops for faculty and staff as well as support for students.
