Financial Aid and Scholarships

At ASU, we believe in providing equal educational access to all students. Upon admission, all students are automatically considered for our New American University scholarships, and the ASU Scholarship portal offers a wide variety of need- and merit-based scholarships. For students looking for scholarships designated to assist members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the following resources are recommended.

AffordableColleges.Com LGBTQ Scholarships — List of scholarships and resources related to the college search for LGBTQ individuals.


FinAid: Financial Aid for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Students —  With several dozen scholarships available to LGBTQIA+ students and families, FinAid offers one of the most comprehensive scholarship listings exclusive to the LGBTQIA+ community.


Fastweb: Scholarships for Gay or Lesbian Students —  In addition to scholarships specifically for LGBTQIA+ students, Fastweb also offers scholarships to students who demonstrate active involvement in promoting equal rights and involvement with the LGBTQIA+ community.


GO Financial Aid: LGBT Financial Aid —  A growing number of organizations are creating scholarship funds and grants for LGBTQIA+ students or families. GO Financial Aid lists some of these organizations.


National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals Inc. (NOGLSTP) — NOGLSTP established the Out to Innovate™ Scholarship for LGBTQ+ Students in STEM, following NOGLSTP’s inaugural Out to Innovate™ Career Summit for LGBTQ+ People in STEM. These scholarships are intended for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering,or mathematics (STEM) programs who are either lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or an active ally of the LGBTQ+ community. The scholarships are designed to promote academic excellence and increased visibility of talented LGBTQ+ students in STEM careers.


Phoenix Pride Scholarships —  Phoenix Pride, with the support of local contributors and community members, has awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to the LGBTQIA+ community since the inception of its scholarship program in 2008.


Point Foundation Scholarships —  Point Foundation is the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students of merit. Point Foundation promotes change through scholarship funding, mentorship, leadership development, and community service training. Our scholarship application for 2017-18 is open from November 1, 2016 to January 30, 2017 on the Point Foundation website.
