Family Weekend FAQs


What is Family Weekend?
Family Weekend is a long-standing ASU tradition held during the fall semester. Current students invite their families to join them on campus for a weekend of events to celebrate Sun Devil spirit and traditions. Family members of all ages can enjoy activities hosted by academic colleges, campus departments and Sun Devil athletics.

Who can attend?
Any ASU affiliated families — students, staff, faculty, alumni and their family members are welcome to attend.

Can young children attend?
Yes. Programming is available for family members and guests of all ages.

When is Family Weekend?
Family Weekend 2020 dates will be announced during the Spring 2020 semester. 

Where can I find a map of campus?
Downtown Phoenix campus
Polytechnic campus
Tempe campus
West campus

What time should families arrive in town on Friday?
Events begin Friday afternoon on all ASU campus locations. 

When and where should I check in for Family Weekend?
Check in is available on Friday afternoon at each campus location and Saturday morning in Tempe. Specific times and locations will be provided during registration. 

Where should I stay for Family Weekend?
Families choose to stay in a variety of accommodations to best suit their needs. For information on travel and accommodation options near each campus location see the Visit ASU website. Please note the "visit ASU rate" may not be available at all locations for the Veteran's Day Weekend. 

How can I add guests to an existing registration?
To access your registration and make changes, visit the modify registration page and follow these steps:

  • Log in with the registered email and reference number found in your confirmation email.
  • Confirm the contact information and agenda. It appears as though it's a new registration, but the information is pre-populated. Simply click "Continue" at the bottom of the screen until you arrive at the Add Guests page.
  • Enter an email address for the new registrant and select a guest category (ASU Student/Family & Guest/Child).
  • Add their general information and make agenda selections.
  • You will be directed again to the Add Guests page. You may add more guests from here, or scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Complete Registration."
  • You will be brought to the payment page to select an option for paying the new balance due. You will only be charged for the added registration, with no additional fees.
  • Once paid, you will see the new confirmation page. A confirmation email will also be sent to notify you of these changes.

Key Events

Can I go to class with my student?
Most faculty members will allow guests to visit their classrooms during Family Weekend. Have your student check with his or her professor prior to your visit.

What time is Devils on Mill?
Devils on Mill will begin three hours prior to kickoff of the Saturday football game. Kickoff time has not been announced yet.


Football Tickets

Are football tickets included in Family Weekend registration?
No, football tickets need to be purchased separately through Sun Devil Athletics. However, once you pay for the Family Weekend registration, a discount code and website link will be included in the payment confirmation email.

Do students need to purchase tickets to the football game?
We encourage students to use the ASU App to download their free ticket for the student section, just like any other home football game.  Families have shared how much they enjoy looking for their student in the section and seeing their Sun Devil Pride in action. If the student would like to sit with his or her family, then he or she will need to purchase a ticket
