Members
The ASU Family Ambassador Council consists of parents and family members from across the globe who are committed to student success and family engagement. Council leaders:
- Must be the parent or family member of an incoming, current or former ASU university student
- Can be located anywhere in the world
- Agree to uphold all Council commitments to maintain and/or renew membership. Council commitments detailed on the application form and include participation in Council meetings, involvement activities and committee work.
- 2024-2025 Ambassador Council Meeting Schedule:
- Q1: Thursday August 15, 2024 (hybrid. In person participation encouraged to support Welcome volunteer opportunities. Zoom link will also be available.)
- Q2: Thursday, November 21, 2024 (virtual)
- Q3: Thursday, February 6, 2025 (virtual)
- Q4: Thursday, May 8, 2025 (virtual)
Council members commit to a 1-year (July-June) term that is renewable for all members in good standing.
Family Ambassador Council Committees
All Family Ambassador Council members support one or more committees to help advance Council, ASU Family and University initiatives and goals. Committees are co-chaired by Family Ambassador Council members with support from the ASU Family staff. Committees include:
- Career and Workforce
The Career and Workforce Committee supports the development of a strong network among Arizona State University families, students, and the broader community to foster internships and career opportunities for Sun Devils. This initiative encourages employers to hire Sun Devils and supports university Career Development initiatives. - Digital Outreach The Digital Outreach Committee supports increasing registrations, event participation, and interactions with ASU Family. This committee will utilize the toolkit to effectively distribute ASU news and upcoming events across diverse digital platforms while also providing guidance on creating digital resources tailored for families, aiming for extensive outreach and engagement.
- FAC Membership Committee The FAC Membership Committee manages the applications process for the Family Ambassador Council, ensuring its integrity and enhancing the overall strength and effectiveness of the Council. This involves conducting interviews and fostering the development of a cohesive Council community.
- Family Connection The Family Connection Committee supports interaction between ASU Families to encourage student success and well-being through Direct Connect, Family programming and other university engagement experiences. The committee helps to create shared experiences, address family concerns and provide families with campus resources.
- Philanthropic Impact The Philanthropic Impact Community actively supports ASU fundraising initiatives and promotes university giving opportunities. Activities include engaging in efforts to raise funds and encouraging participation from the community.
Council Application
ASU Family aims to build a Council that is representative of the ASU community and its commitment to student success and family engagement. For Academic Year 2024-25, the Family Ambassador Council application opens April 1 and closes at midnight on June 2, 2024. Applications will be reviewed by ASU Family staff and current members of the Ambassador Council. The application process includes the completion of the ASU Family Ambassador Council Application form and a short phone conversation with current Council members. All applicants will be notified in July regarding their application status.
