We look forward to celebrating Family Weekend 2020 from Nov. 6-8. Should local circumstances permit, we hope to welcome you to campus in person this Fall. If we cannot gather, we will have virtual opportunities to share in Sun Devil spirit, pride and tradition. Decisions about in person gatherings will be made closer to the start of the Fall semester.

What is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend is a long-standing ASU tradition held during the fall semester. Students, staff, faculty and alumni invite their families to join them on campus for a weekend of events to celebrate Sun Devil spirit and traditions. Family members of all ages can enjoy activities hosted by academic colleges, campus departments and Sun Devil Athletics.

Who can attend?

Any ASU affiliated families — students, staff, faculty, alumni and their family members and guests of all ages — are welcome to attend.

What is the cost of attending Family Weekend?

Registration costs $15 per student and $25 per guest. Children 5 and under are free. All participants need to be registered to receive Family Weekend credentials for event entry.

What does my Family Weekend registration cost include?

  • A code to purchase discounted tickets to the ASU football game against the California Golden Bears on Saturday, Nov. 7 and other Sun Devil Athletics events during the weekend
  • Access to Sun Devil Fitness Centers and their amenities
  • Clear stadium bag for use at athletic events, including the football game against Pac-12 rival California
  • Discounts at local vendors
  • Entry into catered college-hosted family programs to connect with faculty and other families in your student’s major and learn more about their academic program
  • On campus parking for Friday events
  • Open houses, tours, and events across all four campus locations that showcase ASU spirit, pride and tradition

Do current students need to be registered to attend events?

Yes, students need to register to attend Family Weekend events.

Does my student need to be the primary registrant on the account?

No, any member of the family can be the primary registrant, but all students must be registered to attend events.

How do I cancel my registration and request a refund?

Email to cancel your registration and request your refund. All cancellations and refund requests must be received in writing by Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. Please include a copy of your confirmation email, your name, contact phone, email address in your request. No refunds can be issued after Oct. 16.

What time should families arrive in town on Friday?

Check-in and events at each campus will begin midday on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020. The full Family Weekend event calendar will be available in Fall semester.

Where should I stay?

Families choose to stay in a variety of accommodations to best suit their needs. Visit ASU has information on travel and accommodation options near each campus location, go to. Specific hotel questions can be directed to Ashlin Shinn.

Where can I find a map of campus?

The ASU Interactive Map has the most current map and driving directions to each of the campuses.



Why do I need to check-in to Family Weekend?

Families need to check-in to pick up their Family Weekend credential which serves as their ticket to Family Weekend events and access to unlock discounts at local vendors. Families will also receive their parking validation for Friday events and stadium tote for use at Athletic events.

Where do I check-in for Family Weekend?

Check-in occurs at all four metro-Phoenix campuses on Friday afternoon at the campus you selected during registration. Check-in locations are included in your confirmation email and will be listed on the Family Weekend events page in the fall. Reminders, including parking information, will be sent out in emails leading up to the event date.

Does everyone need to attend check-in?

While the whole family is invited, one representative needs to check-in the entire group.

How long will check-in take?

The check-in process typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Can I go to class with my student?

Most faculty members will allow guests to visit their classrooms during Family Weekend. Have your student check with his or her professor prior to your visit.

Are football tickets included in Family Weekend registration?

No; football tickets need to be purchased separately through Sun Devil Athletics. However, once you pay for the Family Weekend registration you will receive a discount code to use when you purchase football tickets.

Do students need to purchase tickets to the football game?

We encourage students to use the ASU App to download their free ticket for the student section, just like any other home football game. Families have shared how much they enjoy looking for their student in the section and seeing their Sun Devil Pride in action. If the student would like to sit with their family, then they will need to purchase a ticket.
