The 9-month Practicum Training Program at Arizona State University Counseling Services provides generalist training, with emphasis in the provision of outpatient individual and group psychotherapy, clinical assessment, crisis response, consultation, treatment planning, and psycho-educational outreach programming. The particular activities in which practicum counselors engage is determined by training rotation requirements.
The American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral internship prepares trainees to become psychologists competent to practice in a university counseling center or a similar outpatient mental health setting. The internship provides generalist training, with emphasis in the provision of outpatient individual and group therapy, clinical assessment, crisis response, consultation, psychoeducational outreach programming, and supervision of counselors in training. The internship is a 2000-hour, twelve-month training experience. There are three positions each year.
