Group therapy for students

Creating change in your life can be very powerful in a group setting with peers facing similar challenges. 
 
We’ve designed a variety of group therapy topics to meet the unique needs of students. Groups are led by master and doctorate level clinicians and trainees who possess a vast range of skills, expertise and experience. These therapy groups are confidential, free of cost and only require an initial appointment to get started and learn more.

Changing Course

This 90-minute process group supports students who have had to or are in the process of dropping a class due to symptoms of anxiety or depression.  The purpose of this group is to gather insight and support in management of symptoms for this semester, and to build towards a new start in spring semester.

Mindful Minds

This 60-minute supportive group is designed to provide education on depressive symptoms while teaching practical coping skills. Students will explore strategies-mindfulness practices, mindful sleep routines, and mindful coloring reduce stress, improve mood, and promote emotional well-being.

Healthy Relationships 

This 90-minute group explores healthy relationship topics like setting boundaries, navigating disagreements, and effective communication. Students gain valuable insights and practical tools each week to cultivate meaningful connections with family, friends, partners, and co-workers.

Managing Social Anxiety 

This 60-minute telehealth group is for students who have experienced social anxiety or intense self-consciousness in social situations. This group offers a safe, confidential, and welcoming environment where students can come together to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and build confidence

Art Expressions 

This 90-minute group focuses on emotional expression through art therapy. Students do not need to have art skills or previous experience with art.

Peak Performance

This 60-minute group is designed for students that are struggling with academics, motivation, and are currently attempting to complete a goal in which they are experiencing issues of negative self-critic, anxiety, perceived lack of control, plateauing, or fear of failure.

Senior Year

This 90-minute process group supports students who are in their senior year and have had an increase in anxiety or depression symptoms due to their upcoming life change through graduation.

Make & Take Coping Tools for Managing Stress 

This 60-minute group offers a creative, hands-on approach to managing stress in a healthy, practical way. The students will get a chance to make their own coping tools while connecting with other students who are navigating similar experiences.

Breaking Free: Overcoming Perfectionism 

This 60-minute open group is for students who feel intense pressure to meet unrealistic standards and notice this impacting their academic, professional, social, and personal life. Participants will learn about the causes and impacts of perfectionism as well as some tools and strategies to overcome perfectionistic tendencies.

Calm Within: Mindfulness for Anxiety 

This 60-minute mindfulness-based group for students looking to reduce anxiety and build inner calm. Building new skills to help students respond to stress with clarity and compassion.

Zzzz Zone: Rest & Reset 

This 60-minute group helps students improve sleep through practical strategies, relaxation techniques, and creating a sleep-friendly environment, even in dorms. This group is ideal for students struggling with falling asleep, staying asleep, irregular schedules, or racing thoughts, and provides tools to rest, reset, and recharge.

This 60-minute group will help you gain the ability to handle stress better, regulate emotions more consistently, use mindfulness for improved focus day to day, and improve your relationships with others.

Chess and Life: Moving Towards Resilience 

This 90-minute group helps develop skills in life through the understanding of chess pieces and strategies for playing the game of chess. The group will spend time each week on life strategies connected to each chess piece as they relate to the playing of the game.

Facing Anxiety 

This 60-minute anxiety group is a supportive space where people come together to learn practical tools. This is to help you understand your anxiety, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build confidence in handling life’s stress.

Support Between Worlds (International Students) 

This 90-minute group is to allow time to process current life stressors. Skill building to help students cope, in the midst of cultural adjustments and stress.

Growing Through Connections

This 90-minute group will help to enhance relationships and communication skills by exploring interpersonal dynamics in a supportive, student-centered environment. Through guided group interactions, the student receives valuable feedback, gains a deeper insight into relational patterns, and develops practical skills to build stronger, more meaningful connections with others.

Good Mourning 

This 90-minute group is for students who have experienced the pain of losing someone close to them. This group will help students connect with their emotions and gain insights into their unique grieving process through education and therapeutic interventions in a safe, compassionate and supportive setting. This group will also help students find healthy ways of honoring and incorporating their loss into their lives. This group offers six topics for each round and two rounds of the group will be hosted this semester.

Sparking Connections

This 90-minute group will teach social skills and strategies that help develop connections with empathy and kindness. Topics will be conversations, active listening, understanding body language, setting boundaries, and building self-confidence.

SUPPORT CIRCLE - Habits for Life: Building Organization/Time Management

This 60-minute group is for students who would like to improve making or keeping a schedule/routine, organizing, prioritizing, staying on task, and following through with tasks or projects. Join this Virtual Circle for tips, hacks, and strategies you can use in college and throughout your life.

Focus Hub

This 90-minute group is for college students seeking a compassionate and understanding community to navigate the journey of ADHD. Together, we can embrace our strengths, support each other through difficulties, and celebrate our successes. Let's grow and learn together as we embrace life with ADHD.

Growing Through Relationships (Graduate Students Only) 

This 90-minute group will examine how early life experiences shape current relational patterns. The group provides a supportive space for students to reflect on unresolved developmental issues and how these impact emotional functioning and interpersonal relationships. Through shared dialogue and feedback, individuals work toward greater self-understanding and relational growth.
