W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington: Addressing the Civil Rights Crisis

Monday, March 15, 2021 - 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Online, Off campus

W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington disagreed about the best means to address race relations in the United States. The argument between Washington and DuBois remains of continuing importance in American life because it helps us conceptualize what is today a central point of division in approaches to race relations: there is the party of protest, which aligns with DuBois, and a party of self-improvement, more in the spirit of Washington.
