Social Cohesion Dialogue 2024

"The Center for the Study of Race & Democracy (CSRD) at Arizona State University will host the sixth annual Social Cohesion Dialogue on Wednesday November 20, 2024. Join CSRD director Lois Brown, PhD and authors Jeff Goodell and Dr. Robert Gore for a riveting dialogue about health, environmental crises, vulnerability, trauma, leadership and community engagement. The Social Cohesion Dialogue series brings celebrated authors and their powerful books into conversation with ASU and audiences across Arizona and beyond. This series connects gifted writers with diverse communities at and beyond ASU. It has generated substantive and memorable discussions and calls to action since its inception in the spring of 2019. The 2024 public dialogue will focus on themes of climate change, medicine, and public health. Influential environmental journalist Jeff Goodell examines the climate crisis and its far-reaching human and environmental impacts in his bestselling book The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet (2023). Dr. Robert Gore, an accomplished physician and social justice champion delves into the intersections of health, trauma, race and community engagement in his just-published book Treating Violence: An Emergency Room Doctor Takes on a Deadly American Epidemic (2024)."
