Indigenous Open Mic Poetry Night

The Labriola National American Indian Data Center, in partnership with the Center for Imagination in the Borderlands, is inviting you to our annual Indigenous Open Mic Poetry Night. Our host for this semester is renowned poet Jake Skeets (Diné). He is Black Streak Wood, born for Water’s Edge. He earned an MFA in poetry from the Institute of American Indian Arts while living in Phoenix, Arizona. He is author of “Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers,” winner of the 2021 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. We are honored Jake Skeets will be flying in from Oklahoma, where he currently teaches at the University of Oklahoma.

There will be open slots for reading and we encourage community members to share their poetry
