Can I apply as a team?
Yes, you can apply as a team for any of the four modes.
What Information do I need to have to apply?
- Your general ASU information
- An idea!
- Names/Email of other members (If you have any)
- Project name, brief description, and needs to showcase idea
If I have a unique project and I need additional supplies or information to show at Change the World, what do I do?
Please list your additional needs directly in your application. If you have additional questions, email us at changetheworld2025@asu.edu.
If I need materials to make my poster, where can I get some?
Changemaker Central at the four-Phoenix area campuses will have materials available to use for Change the World. Just let us know you have an application submitted.
Rubric Criteria
Projects are judged based on the following criteria areas:
- Need - Demonstrates clearly the local or global problem, its need to be addressed, and its stakeholders. Explains clearly how the presented solution solves/alleviates the stated problem.
- Innovative Approach - Identifies at least one innovative solution for the presentation. Contrasts presented solution with other existing solutions and demonstrates clearly why the presented solution addresses the problem better.
- Impact - Demonstrates clearly a reasonable plan to implement the project. Presents one or more conducted assessments of the feasibility of the project.
- Presentation - Shows preparation and clearly communicates ideas.
When will I know I was accepted?
Applications are due February 28, 2025. Notification of acceptance to Change the World will occur over spring break, including a time slot for those performing, present, and pitch.
If I am accepted, what should I bring on the day of?
Bring your ideas, supplies, and items you have created for Change the World.
Timeline day of
- For those presenting - Please plan to be present at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time at the stage you are assigned to. For those who have additional materials, i.e. equipment, please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
- For those showcasing - Please plan to arrive to drop off materials around 3:00pm prior to the start of Change the World at 5:00pm. If you need assistance in setting up your project let us know in your application and during your check-in.

Please enter through the southwest gate of Sun Devil Stadium.
What is happening at Change the World?
- There is a lot happening at Change the World including
- Connect with employers and internships through both employers and alumni supporting student idea judging. Students can also engage with employers through employers tabling at Change the World.
- Complete service hours through community service occurring at Change the World. Just coming to the event you are working to Change the World through supporting the broader community.
- Table for their Club or Organization and share the great work students have done in their Clubs and Organizations.

How do I become a volunteer?
Sign-up to volunteer for the day of experience to support others in changing the world.
When will I know my volunteer shift?
Notification of volunteer shift for Change the World will occur over spring break, including a time slot for your shift(s).
Where do I check-in?
- Please enter through the southwest gate of Sun Devil Stadium.
- Signage will be throughout the space to show you the location of the volunteer space to drop-off your items and pick-up for your shift.
- Please be 15 minutes early for your shift.

What do I need to do when I volunteer at Change the World?
- Drink water prior to, during and after your shift. Remember to bring a water bottle.
- When you start your shift, you will be assigned a location and committee lead, who will be wearing a gold lanyard with "Committee Lead" on it.
- Wear closed-toe shoes during your shift and while walking around the event.
- Have a question? Reach out and ask prior to or during the event.
- During the event, connect with students. Ask about their ideas/projects.

I received my shift but what does it mean?
Each person who volunteered received shift(s). These shifts breakdown to the following roles and tasks:
- Set-up - Supporting setting up for the event including setting up tables, roping sections off, and overall preparing the space (Physical labor included in this shift).
- Greeter - Welcoming students and community to Change the World, handing out bags, helping out at the service project, and shirts. You could have shifts such as Front, Art, Display, Service, Stages, Student Check-in, and T-shirts.
- Judging - Supporting the subcommittees in judging student ideas. Subcommittees will be onsite in the area. Judging includes areas such as Art, CAG, Display, Health, Performance, and Pitch.
- Area support - Welcoming students and community to individual spaces, answering questions, and keeping the space organized. You could have areas such as Art, Display, Service, and Stages.
- Clean-up - Supporting taking down items from the event, picking up trash, and overall cleaning up the space (Physical labor included in this shift)
What are the benefits of sponsoring Change the World?
- Sponsors can receive some of the following benefits, depending on on the sponsorship level:
- Directly named as a Change the World event sponsor to a specific scholarship prize money a student receives
- Included in remarks at the Change the World event
- Sponsor logo displayed at the main stage of the Change the World event
- Advertisement of company logo throughout the event in the Jumbotron, digital boards surrounding the arena, and print collateral
- Advertisement on website, included level sponsored noted
- Priority invitation to participate as one of the judges for the student pitch competitions

You can register to participate in the Employer Showcase through this link. Employers have the option to sponsor the event or select a standard booth registration.
What types of employers can participate/attend Change the World?
