The 2020 Barrett Summer Scholars application is currently open and will close March 2, 2020. Students must be entering grades 8, 9, or 10 in the Fall of 2020 to be eligible to participate in June 2020.
Essays and report cards can be automatically uploaded to the online application.
Compose a personal essay that answers one of the following questions. Essays should be 1-1 1/2 pages, double spaced, in Times New Roman 12 pt font. Please include your name and grade in the top right corner.
1. Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.
2. Barrett Summer Scholars learn from both successes and failures. How have you turned a failure into a success?
3. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
Acceptance and Notification
The Barrett Summer Scholars Program will send you notification via email that your application has been received. We are unable to accept telephone calls regarding the status of student applications while they are being processed. Students will be sent a letter by email regarding the outcome of their application in April.
