2018-2019 Early Outreach Scholarship Application

Overview

The mission of Access Arizona State University (ASU) is to foster the pipeline of Arizona youth enrolling and succeeding in Arizona State University. Accomplishing this mission requires the assistance of staff and current ASU students with a passion to inspire interest in postsecondary education. The Early Outreach Scholarship (EOS) program endorses ASU students as role models for K-12 grade students. Scholarship recipients “give back” by promoting a college going culture to their own high schools, other schools, and community organizations throughout Arizona by completing 150 service hours as an Access ASU Outreach Ambassador or as Hispanic Mother Daughter Program (HMDP) Peer Mentors.

Service Hours Option

  • Access ASU Outreach Ambassadors: All scholarship recipients are Access ASU Outreach Ambassadors and serve as an extension of the outreach team by assisting in presentations, workshops, student panels and tabling events. Events occur during school hours but often take place on weekends and weekday evenings. Locations of events vary within the Phoenix Metropolitan area; occasionally travel takes place outside of Maricopa County.
  • Hispanic Mother Daughter Program (HMDP) Peer Mentors: Mentors are assigned 12 to 14 high school seniors to further assist each student with the college-going process. Communication occurs mostly through emails, texts, and phone calls. The mentor is responsible for follow-up on the ASU application process, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion, as well as providing scholarship information, and assist students with writing their personal statements. Mentors receive special training on how to complete the ASU and FAFSA applications. REQUIREMENT: Available on Wednesday evenings at the Tempe Campus from 4:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
